So cute, yet so simple! Great in
solids, but you can add stripes, embroidery, fair
isle or intarsia motifs...the possibilities are endless! Instructions are
for sizes: infant, (toddler, adolescent, teen and adult).
Abbreviations: K = knit; K2tog = knit 2 stitches
together as 1; P = purl; rd = 1 entire round of circular knitting; rep =
repeat; st(s) = stitch(es); st st
= stockinette stitch (all knit stitches in
circular knitting); yds = yards; yo = yarn over (bring yarn to front of work between
needles and lay over top of right needle.)

Gauge: 18 sts, 24 rows =
4”/10cm in st st.
Needles: US size 6 or 7 (4 or 4.5 mm) knitting needles,
size G or 7 crochet hook and a darning needle. Use size necessary
to obtain gauge.
Cast on 76(80,84,88,92)
sts. Work in st st for 18 rows or until work measures 3”. *K2tog, yo; rep from * across row until only 2 sts remain, k2tog. Work in st
st and increase 1 st at
edge on the next row. You’re back to 76(80,84,88,92)
sts. Work
in st until piece measures (10, 10½ , 11, 11½, 12)” long. *K2tog, yo; rep from * across row until only 2 sts remain, k2tog. Work in st
st until piece measures (12,12½
, 13, 13½, 14)” long. Bind off all sts.
With right sides together, fold in half, joining the two shorter
sides. Sew the back seam. Fold the bottom (3") segment up
for the hem and sew in place with slip stitch. Crochet a chain about
16" long. Thread the tip of the chain through a darning needle
and feed it over and under through the eyelet row. Pull it tight, tie
in a knot and make a bow. Weave in any loose ends. Bestow on a
beautiful head with hugs and kisses.
